I'm taking on Cancer Council's The March Charge...
…. a challenge spreading across the month of March to raise much needed funds for world-class cancer research, prevention programs and support services. This year alone, 162,000 Australians will be diagnosed with Cancer. While this may be a statistic to some, it is a life-altering battle to others.
I will be participating in this initiative in honour of my Mum, Lexie, who sadly lost her battle to Breast Cancer in 2004, when I was only 3 years old. Although personal to me, I am not the only one with a similar story – which is why I am doing my part to change this outcome and fundraising for those directly and indirectly impacted my cancer.
My best friends have always been my greatest support system – and as always, they will be aiding me in this process. We have created a team named “Steps for Lex”, in my Mum’s honour. While we will individually be on our own journey, our end objective is to spread awareness and to get out there and give it a go for those who can’t!
I am challenging myself to run 100km (3.2km per day). Enduring this physically demanding task is nothing compared to the fight that those diagnosed with Cancer will have to experience. Please donate today to make every KM count!
