Last 7 days of the March Charge

We are on the homeward stretch. 5kms to go. It is horrible weather in Queensland at the moment  but the rain is helping us stay cool. Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors. It means a great deal to us. You're helping us tell cancer where to go. 

Third Week- Charging for cancer

Well, the weather is now very wet. Even though, we are going to charge through rain, hail or shine to get the kms finished this month. 

Second Week- Charging for Cancer


We are starting our second week walking to raise funds for cancer research. My two girls Lauren and Chloe and cattle x Misty have been walking the cane fields to improve our fitness and hopefully raise some much needed funds for cancer research. 
This is our second year doing the March Charge. Last year we were hoping to smash 75kms but unfortunately I fell and hurt my knee and didn't end up finishing the challenge. We were more conservative with our km amounts this time around just in case... 
Why do we sign up for these challenges or try to raise money for cancer?.... Simple answer because of me. I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at 22, the year we did our first walk, the Relay for Life. We've done KS for Kids with the Children's Medical Research Institute and other family members are also passionate about cancer research and fundraising.  I am the beginning of my family's cancer history and I am hoping to be the last one day. Research is the only way for future generations to be given hope and not a sentence.

...a month-long fitness challenge to raise funds for world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services. 

This year in Australia an estimated 162,000 people will hear the words "you have cancer", I'm doing my part to change this by getting active and fundraising for people impacted by cancer.
